Graduation Process

Congratulations! Now that you enrolled in the final semester of your study, you need to apply for graduation.

Please keep in mind that graduation is NOT automatic. It is your responsibility to notify the Registrar’s Office of your intent to graduate. To be considered for graduation, you must submit an “Application For Graduation Form” and a completed “Degree Audit Form.”

The graduation application package is available at the Registrar’s Office or you can download HERE.

Early application is encouraged to allow time for a complete record check prior to the student's enrolling for the last semester.

Follow the four steps

  1. Download and fill out the “Graduation Application Package.”
  2. Make an appointment with your academic advisor. Submit both the Application for Graduation form and the Degree Audit form. Your advisor will review your completed application and if all academic requirements are fulfilled, it will be approved.
  3. Pay the graduation fee at the Accounting Office. This fee is NON-refundable.
  4. Submit the Application for Graduation form, the approved Degree Audit form, the graduate exit survey and a receipt of graduation fee to the Registrar’s Office.

Please remember, in order to graduate from Virginia International University you must fulfill all Program, Academic, Financial, and University Requirements. All requirements will be verified by your School and the Registrar's Office. If you do not meet these requirements, you will not be awarded a degree. The university has a graduation appeals process to consider written appeals from students who do not meet all requirements.
