This year’s commencement ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 2 – 4pm at Woodson High School in Fairfax, VA.

TRANSPORTATION
Those planning to drive will find available parking near Gate #18 at the front of the school. Parking will also be available behind the building. University staff will be on site to assist you with parking.
If you are planning to use public transit, you may reach Woodson High School by taking the Metro Green Bus to Nutley Street at Hermosa Drive SB. Bus stops are located directly in front of the high school. For more transit details, we recommend getting directions through Google Maps or through WMATA’s Trip Advisor .
Graduates should arrive no later than 12:30pm to line up according to programs/degrees, pick up name tags, take pictures, etc.

AT THE EVENT
Photographer
There will be a photographer at the commencement ceremony to take photos of the entire event. The photographer will also capture photos of each graduate as he or she receives a diploma and walks across the stage. These photos will be made available to graduates 15 days after the commencement ceremony. Because you will have access to these photos, friends and family members should not leave their seats to take photos out of courtesy for other guests and the graduates. We ask that all graduates make their guests aware of this policy.
Vendors
In the lobby you will be able to make purchases from the VIU Bookstore and Costco.
- The VIU Bookstore will sell VIU items (shirts, pens, notebooks, etc.) and other customized VIU gifts including balloons. Payment should be made in cash. (Other payment options will be updated as they are confirmed.).
Yearbooks for graduates will also be distributed (at no charge) at the VIU Bookstore booth. This will be the ‘gift of memories’ for our graduates! - Costco will sell flowers, graduation balloons, and gift boxes with candies. Payment may be made with either cash or credit card.
In the cafeteria (near the auditorium) some snacks and drinks will also be available. Payment should be made in cash. (Other payment options will be updated as they are confirmed.)
